Homework May 3 2012

The surface area and volume for a prism is different because the surface area calls for adding the area while the volume calls for you to multiply the base and height.

For the cylinder, the surface area is different from the volume because you use the formula SA=2(3.14)r squared while the volume formula is V=2(3.14)r squared H.

To find the surface area of a pyramid, you have to find the lateral area first. That formula is LA=1/2pl.
Then to find the surface area you add the lateral area with the base area. To find the volume of a pyramid, you use the formula V=1/2BH.

To find the surface area of a cone, you have to find the lateral area first once again. To find the lateral area use the formula LA=3.14rl. Then to find the surface area add the lateral area to the base area once again. To find the volume for a cone you use the formula V-1/3(3.14)r squared H.

Princess of Parallelograms

Annabella Milbanke is known as an early mathmatician who had little less than a perfect life. She married Lord Bryon in 1815, since she'd already once refused his proposal in 1812. During their marriage, Milbanke got the affectionate nickname "the Princess of Parrallelograms" from Byron. With the help of her parents, soon after, Annabella divorced Bryon. He treated her badly and had an incestual affair with his half sister; Annabella thought he was mad and had shrinks come in to evaluate his mental health. Compared to her husband, Milbanke's life and upbringing was strict & consisted of philosophy, mathematics, and religion. When the two divorced, Ada,their only child, was very young. Annabella was said to be obssessed wth Byron even after his death and worried later in life that her beloved daughter would inherit his crazy, dark characteristics. This was not true though. Ada followed in her mother's footsteps. She died an early death at the same age as her father, and Annabella did not attend the funeral. One day before fer 68th birthday,May 16th,1860, Annabella died of breast cancer.

Area of Squares, Rectangles, and Parallelograms

The area formula for squares, rectangles, and parallelograms is the same because they are all quadrilaterals.
Tennessee is about 440 miles long and 120 miles wide. Therefore the total area is 52800 miles.

What I Have Learned From ch.10

In chapter 10 I have learned about circles. This includes how to find the diameter, radius, tangent length, and angle measures.

This is useful to jobs like construction and astronomy so they can find out distances and lengths.

How can you tell in an angle is inscribed?
